   *Q
What made you specialize in facial procedures? What was it about the face that
   was most interesting?

   *A
I have a combined interest in the anatomy of the face, as well as the workings behind it.
My dual specialties in Ear, Nose &Throat, as well as facial plastics, bring a level of creativity
and fascination for me. For example, I can correct a deviated septum - which causes
breathing problems, recurrent sinus infections - and perform a rhinoplasty at the same time.
This is not something commonly performed in the field at this time. I can also perform
certain procedures under local anesthesia that is uncommon in the field, but very
   beneficial to certain patients.

   *Q

You say you are a real “science nerd” and you like to discover new things like
the  BioMatrix Lift™. What do you see as your next challenge?

   *A

I have always loved exploring new technologies and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
I am interested in combining procedures like surgery and fillers to make the patient’s life easier,
and save them money at the same time.  The BioMatrix Lift
combines experience, skill, with a
new means of tissue regeneration.  This new type of face surgery avoids the “pulled look” and
creates a natural rejuvenated appearance that is the holy grail of facial plastic surgery.

   *Q

Which cases have you found truly rewarding and inspiring?

   *A

My personal motto for my practice is, “Real People, Real Results” and it is something I live by. I
find great satisfaction in helping someone look better; whether it is a school teacher, a police
officer, a politician or a movie star. I particularly find it very rewarding to help transform someone
who never considered themselves attractive, and take them from a “5” to an “8.” It means so
much to them. I have watched innumerable times how their shoulders go back, the hair goes
back to uncover their new features, their posture changes and a subtle “Mona Lisa” smile flutters
when they see their reflection in a nearby mirror. We are surrounded by so much challenging
news every day that making a positive change in someone’s life is like a halo of light burning
   through the fog
.

   *Q

Do you think American women are hard on themselves obsessing too much
   about age and beauty?

   *A

Yes. Women often see much more that is at fault than others ever would. I am a firm believer
in looking refreshed and natural, but not looking ridiculous or overdone. Our media and magazines
do not help women accept their features with grace and confidence. Good facial plastic work brings
out your best features, improves harmony and is not intended to make you look like someone
else. I am always concerned with the patient who brings magazine pictures of public persona or
model and requests specific features like a nose or lips that model possesses.  Facial plastic
surgery reshapes your features it does not transplant noses or lips from the models at large.

   *Q

What do you deem beautiful?

   *A

My wife! (Ha ha ha) Well given what I do as a professional, I am big on facial harmony between
their specific features.  A prominent nose on a petit and delicate face is out of harmony. When I
look at the face right away I know what feature modification will improve that harmony and give
this patient a great new look. Sometimes we have to navigate around the patients nervousness
and concern as to how it is all going to look afterwards. I was one of the original developers of the
computer simulation technology that I use extensively within my practice. With that technology
I can show the patient what they can look like before we even proceed with any surgery. When
I see a patient smile at the work I did to correct a flaw or something that bothered them for years,
I see a shift in their confidence and to me that is beautiful. When the outer beauty matches the
inner beauty, it is special to me to be a part of.

   *Q
What do you do to always stay ahead of the curve?

   *A

I don’t pay much attention to what anyone else is doing. I stay focused on my patients and
achieving the kind of results that surpass their expectations.. Combining state of the art
technology with skill and aesthetic judgment is my not so secret formula for success with my
   patients.

   *Q
What is your philosophy about your craft? People really must trust you.

   *A

I was trained the “old fashioned way” as a physician. First and foremost, I am a doctor. There
have been many patients who have come to me for cosmetic work, and have ended up having a
serious medical condition that I was able to discover during the diagnosis process. My waiting
room is not appointed with marble, statutes or waterfalls. My practice is based on outcomes and
satisfied patients. I am a facial plastic surgeon judged by the outcomes of my patients rather than
the media image that is so often put forth. I am pretentious, my office is not pretentious, and I
believe the emphasis should be on excellent medical care, listening to my patients and caring
   about their needs.
